Rogue Program

Rogue Program is most often a term applied to software that claims to be beneficial, but does not provide the benefits claimed and has an underlying subversive purpose. Rogue anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are commonly employed to coerce a computer user to purchase the ware in order to remove purported and overstated infections from their computer. This scam is termed Smitfraud or Fake Alert. It commonly follows infection by the Vundo and Zlob trojan downloaders.
